Fictional character biography
Early Life
When he was 8 years old, Bruce Wayne watched helplessly as his parents were killed in front of him. The first person to talk to him after the tragedy was a police officer and future commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD), Jim Gordon. who offered the young boy what little comfort he could. Bruce's family butler, Alfred Pennyworth, became his legal guardian. After witnessing their deaths, Bruce became obsessed with avenging his parents' murder and after years of training, crafted a bat-inspired persona, becoming the Batman.

Production
For Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009), Batman's design was heavily influenced by the work of comic artist Jim Lee, who drew Batman as a strong, muscular character who could believably take part in extreme combat. His black and dark gray costume was based on modern versions, and has military influences and an industrial look. Approximately thirteen concept designs were produced before his final appearance took form.[2]
Ever since early on in production of Arkham Asylum, the development team decided to have Kevin Conroy reprise his roles as Batman from the DC Animated Universe (DCAU) and the DC Universe Animated Original Movies (DCUAOM) direct-to-video film Batman: Gotham Knight (2008).
Reception
The Arkhamverse portrayal of Batman is regarded as one of the best adapted representations of the comic book character. Stuart JA from Screen Rant praised the Arkham series for distilling "everything people love about Batman into a single character".[3]
