Bryan Dawes Haynes

Bryan Dawes Haynes was born December 1st, 1959 in Kirkwood, Missouri to Richard Thomas Haynes and Diana Cooke Dawes Haynes of Rome, Georgia. His siblings include illustrator Michael Preston Haynes, volunteer coordinator Melissa Juliana Haynes (Arch), and silversmith Josephine Diana Haynes (Jacobsmeyer). He attended Kirkwood High School and the University of New Mexico and graduated with a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California in 1983.

Haynes began working as a freelance illustrator in Los Angeles, California and later returned to Saint Louis, Missouri to continue freelancing as an illustrator, represented by Bernstein & Andriulli of New York, New York, and Teenuh Foster Represents of Saint Louis, Missouri. Haynes gained representation at the Kodner Gallery of Ladue, Missouri in 1990, at American Legacy Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri in 2001, and at Manitou Galleries in Sante Fe, New Mexico in 2014.

Haynes illustrated the book cover for Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley, published in 1992.

In 2011, Haynes painted four murals for the Danforth Plant Science Center in Saint Louis, Missouri. In 2012, Haynes completed a mural[1] for the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri and in 2013 he created installations for the Missouri Botanical Garden in Saint Louis and Westward Expansion Memorial Museum at the Saint Louis Arch.

Haynes is credited with leading the regionalist art movement and published a retrospective book titled New Regionalism - Art of Bryan Haynes in 2013.[2] He opened the Bryan Haynes Gallery in Washington, Missouri in 2017.

Haynes has been awarded by The Society of Illustrators - New York, Print Magazine, Communication Arts Awards, and Graphis Magazine - Switzerland.

Haynes married Petra Maria Sieben in 1986. They have two daughters.
