The Bugatti SuperVeyron is a proposed mid-engined sports car, to be designed and developed by the Volkswagen Group and manufactured in Molsheim, France by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
In 2011, Wolfgang Dürheimer stated that the company was committed to producing the world's fastest car, and would respond to any competitors that produced a faster car.[1] In October 2012, Automobile Magazine reported rumours of a new variant called the SuperVeyron which was due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. However, Bugatti president Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber spoke with Autoblog and announced that no such project is in development. Despite this he did state that a replacement for the Veyron model is in the works after the model reaches its end of production.[2]
16C Galibier[edit]
The Bugatti 16C Galibier concept is a prototype of a luxury sedan which was presented officially in September 2009 by Bugatti before the IAA 2009. A derivative of the concept vehicle is expected to reach the market in 2015. The car is a 4-door luxury sedan which shares the W16 8.0L engine of the Veyron, but with two superchargers instead of four turbochargers for improved torque.[3] It would be produced in larger volumes than the Veyron and may incorporate a hybrid option.[4]
In September 2013 Bugatti announced that it will be dropping the Galibier Project to focus solely on the successor to the Veyron.[5] Currently, it is unknown whether Bugatti will continue on the the Galiber Project.
Release Date and Price[edit]
Some rumors claim that the Bugatti SuperVeyron 2015 release date will be in late 2014 to mid 2015. The new world's fastest car is said to be priced at US$7.7 million. This will make it the second most expensive car in the world, surpassing the US$3.4 million W-Motors Lykan HyperSport and the US$4.5 million Lamborghini Veneno. It is claimed that production will be limited to about 400 units.[6]
Speed[edit]
Acceleration[edit]
Judging from the standard Bugatti trend, the SuperVeyron will have the same 0-60 mph time as other Veyron cars- 2.5 seconds. It was earlier proposed of increasing the time in the Veyron SuperSport, but the car was too heavy and they had made all the aerodynamic tweaks. However, the Bugatti could be equipped with a 8.0-litre W-16 engine to a 9.6-litre displacement, if so, the new Bugatti could accelerate up to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds.Using the machine, the Bugatti will produce output to 1,500/ 1,600 horsepower.[7]
Top Speed[edit]
Since it's predecessor, the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport, which had a 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) top speed, which as of June 22, 2014 is the world's fastest production car ever made, the SuperVeyron is suggested to be even faster. It is suggested by 2015conceptcars that the SuperVeyron can reach 450.616 km/h (280 mph), and TopSpeed have stated it could reach 463.491 km/h (288 mph).[8] However, Bugatti have claimed that in making the JUN Veyron Top Speed Car, they want to reach 500 km/h (310 mph).[9] Bugatti haven't claimed any ideas of the top speed of the SuperVeyron.
Hybrid[edit]
The SuperVeyron could possibly be a hybrid car, due to the shear expense of petrol needed to reach speeds of 270 mph +. When quizzed about whether or not the car would utilise a hybrid powerplant similar to those used by Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, Schreiber sneakily said “Maybe” with a smile. He continued, “But it’s too early to open the door and show you what we have planned. For now we have to keep the focus on the current Veyron, and help people to understand that this really is the last opportunity to get the car, which will have run for ten years from 2005-2015. Then we will close this chapter and open another one.”[10]
Design[edit]
Interior design will be found on this car will look very luxurious and elegant, besides the exterior design of this car will look very sporty and aggressive. Generally the same trim will be added from its predecessors, to give it the luxury feel- not just being a top-peforming hypercar.
It is suggested that the SuperVeyron will also have the same exterior design as previous cars.
