Bujeok

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bujeok on the ceiling of a sansingak at Jeondeungsa

A bujeok or pujŏk (Hangul부적; Hanja符籍) is a Korean shamanic talisman. It is similar to the Taoist talisman fulu.

Design[edit]

The reason why talismans are painted in red on a yellow background is that yellow represents light and the light that evil spirits hate the most, and vermilion is considered to have the power to drive out ghosts, especially in Central Asian shamanism. ko:부적
