Previously thought to be sensory cold receptors, krause corpuscles, also known as bulbs, are encapsulated sensory corpuscles found in the skin and mucous membranes. From a structural perspective, they are found in glabrous skin and consist of axon terminals that are covered in Schwann-like cells that are housed in a thin fibroblastic capsule.
