Burn the Ballroom is a musical project formed by Adriel Genet (then Alan Gant) and Tom Callahan in Virginia, USA that blends genres of rock, pop-punk, anthem, and alternative music.[1]. The duo founded Burn the Ballroom in 2007, quickly bringing in Blake Boynton and Jackson Harar. The group independently released their debut EP, The Black, on September 7th, 2007. The band currently resides in the Washington DC metro area and consists of Adriel Genet (vocals/guitar), Tuomas Easton (keytar), Josh Finks (bass), and Jack Ivins (drums).

History

Burn the Ballroom was formed in Virginia, USA by Adriel Genet on vocals and Tom Callahan on the guitar.[citation needed] Previously part of a local band "The Shadow Academy", the duo founded Burn the Ballroom in 2007, quickly bringing in Blake Boynton on drums and Jackson Harar on bass. They put together a band to record their first EP, "The Black".[citation needed] The record was released independently as all their records would be. In the subsequent year, 2008, the four-piece released their second EP, "The Blue", on August 15.[citation needed]

After the release of the two EP's, Jackson Harar and Blake Boynton left the band.[citation needed] This led to the addition of Bentley Cobb on drums in 2009. The band continued as a three-piece with Callahan switching to bass, putting out their third EP, "You're Already Mine" on November 2, 2010.[citation needed] Then, on May 26, 2012 they released their first full-length album, "Burn the Ballroom", featuring 12 tracks.[citation needed] After the release of the album, Tom Callahan and Bentley Cobb both departed from the band, leaving Adriel Genet the sole member.[citation needed]

From 2012 to 2013 Genet continued to use the Burn the Ballroom name, recruiting Sterling Pearson on guitar, Jack Ivins on drums, and once again Jackson Harar on bass.[citation needed] In 2014, the band added Tuomas Easton on the Keytar and keyboards. This lineup made and released the fourth EP, "Melodies for the Outsiders" on March 24, 2014.[citation needed] Melodies for the Outsiders gained the band somewhat of a following for the first time [2]. The band later released a music video for the track "Crazy" from the EP [3]

Following the release of the EP, the band would undergo its last lineup changes, with Jackson Harar leaving in 2015, and Sterling Pearson in 2016.[citation needed] Josh Finks joined to fill in the bass position while Genet would take over the guitar position. The now once again four-piece band of Adriel Genet, Tuomas Easton, Josh Finks, and Jack Ivins produced their 5th EP, "Ghost Notes", releasing it on April 11, 2017.[citation needed] They went on to release "Dark Stars & Velvet Skies" on July 9, 2021.[citation needed] A music video was released for "Still" and "Calm Down", both from the EP [4][5]. In the coming years the band released a few singles, such as "Watchers" and "Story of the End" and remains active as of April 2026.[citation needed]
