Business Telecommunication Services

Business Telecommunication Services (BTS) is one of the main international wholesale and retail traffic operators[1]. BTS is present in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Africa, with hubs in North America and Europe. The company was founded in 1993, led by Ricardo Olloqui[2], with now 25 years of experience in the telecommunications world.

History

In 1993, BTS was established as a local company in Miami (Florida), with the aim of providing long distance services. On July 15th, 1999, through the subsidiary in Spain, BTS obtained a Type A license granted by the Telecommunications Market Commission. In 2001, the company signed one of the first agreements and strategic alliances to explore and operate in the African continent. In the same year, BTS received the "Company of the Year in the USA" award, granted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the USA. In 2003, BTS created the company's first operations center in Europe, in Walqa Technology Park[3](Huesca, Spain). The center was initially formed by a group of 30 engineers and state-of-the-art technology, which reinforces the strategic bet for growth in the European continent. In 2005, BTS moved the communications node from Miami to the NAP of the Americas, whose facilities are a benchmark for the security of global communications in the face of natural disasters. In 2007, BTS appeared for the first time in the ranking of "The largest 500 companies in South Florida". In 2008, the purchase of assets of the company Latinode was completed with the aim of consolidation and growth in the Central American market. In 2009, BTS installed its communications node in Madrid, in the Interxion Data Center, thus improving the quality of the service into its entire softswitch platform. In 2010, the company built its own building in Walqa Technology Park[4], where it established one of its Network Operations Centers and the main site of the R & D department. In 2011, BTS was included in the "Top 100 Small Business in South Florida", which recognizes the largest companies in South Florida. In 2012, it joined the i3 Forum and, in 2013, the GBET association. BTS also implemented its own platform "Soft Switch Opensource" developed in the nodes of Madrid and Miami.

Global business

BTS is fundamentally based on three business areas:

  • Wholesale International Services,
  • Mobile services and MVNOs,
  • Network management services.

BTS has technologies such as IPX and HD Voice. It also has hubs in Madrid, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, New York, Panama, Guatemala and the NAP of the Americas. The BTS NOC facilities are located in two continents, one in Zaragoza, Spain and the other in Guatemala, and provide supervision and control of voice traffic in real time in order to guarantee the quality level of network. These centers are equipped with the latest advances in interactive tools and software to provide 24x7 network control, monitoring and coverage.

S and BTS - Joint Venture

On June 2017, the Japanese group Softbank and BTS set up a joint venture[5] to outsource the companies' voice traffic. The joint venture is called S and BTS[6], and it is based in Tokyo, Japan, from where it manages SoftBank's international voice traffic and BTS's Asian traffic.
