"Bust Down Cartier" is a song by American rapper Lil Mosey. It was released on March 15, 2019, and is the fifth and final single from Mosey's debut studio album Northsbest. Produced by Mosey himself, the song was included on the re-release of Northsbest, titled Northsbest (Extended), in mid-2019.[citation needed]

Background

The song, then unreleased, was performed by Mosey throughout his Northsbest World Tour in 2018, as well the Lyrical Lemonade SXSW Stage on March 14, 2019. It received major attention from snippets on Instagram, and became one of Mosey's most anticipated releases. He eventually released it on March 15, and this was followed up by a Lyrical Lemonade music video two months later on May 18 to further promote the song.

"Bust Down Cartier" was Mosey's first single of 2019, and it was added to the re-release of his debut studio album Northsbest on June 21. Mosey followed this up by releasing more singles in the lead up to his second studio album Certified Hitmaker, which dropped in November that year.

Composition

Backed by a calming but infectious piano melody, Mosey goes over his hometown's reaction to his fame, wealth and trust in friends. This is a common topic in his music, like he did in his 2018 hit single "Noticed". Interestingly, the released version of "Bust Down Cartier" was different from the version he previewed on Instagram and had performed throughout his tours prior to its release. Apart from a slightly different chorus, the first and second verse were also switched around in the officially released version.

The song is also Mosey's first self-produced song, and this can be heard at beginning of the song when Mosey shouts out his own producer tag "Mosey-Mosey you made this?"

Music video

Directed by Cole Bennett, the Lyrical Lemonade music video was released on May 18, 2019, about two months after the song's initial release. The music video has been viewed over 16 million times. It was Mosey's second collaboration with Bennett at that time, coming after "Noticed" in 2018. They collaborated for a third time the following year for Mosey's hit single "Blueberry Faygo".
