Buttercup Creek

Buttercup Creek, located in Canaan, NY, is a tributary to Kinderhook Creek and the Hudson River and is classified as C(T)[1] by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as supportive of a Trout population. It is named for the Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris) which it prominent along its banks in the early spring. Despite is name, the Marsh Marigold is part of the Buttercup (Ranunculaceae) family.
