Buumba Malambo
Buumba Malambo is one of Zambia's youngest ward councillors in Magoba ward, kafue district, aged 24 years. She is a philanthropist and a graduate from the university of Zambia where she studied a degree in social work.
Early Life
She was born in Mufulira district in Zambia where she was raised by her parents, Mr and Mrs Malambo. For her primary education, she went to Eastlea basic school where she did her primary education and then moved to Mufulira secondary school in her eighth grade and was later taken to Kantashi secondary school. It was at Kantashi secondary that she completed her secondary education. While on the copperbelt, she was involved in voluntary work under the juith Chikonde foundation where she participated in the maize distribution project where she was donating maize to the people of Mupambe village during the typhoid outbreak in 2007. This led to her appointment as Mufulira youth secretary by Mufulira town clerk at age 15.
Education
In the year 2010, she relocated to Lusaka city when she was accepted at the University of Zambia to study a bachelor's degree in social work; a career choice that fits her line of work.
Work
In her days at the University, she visited kafue district as a student. She openly confesses that it was her frequent interaction with the people of Magoba that made her grow fond of them. She considered them family and humbled herself to their level whenever she was there. Many times one would find her wearing a chitenge wrapper and embracing her natural hair, a characteristic that made the people of Magoba grow fond of this young phenomenal lady. When the opportunity to be councillor opened up, it was the women of Magoba that encouraged her to stand for the position, promising support in the election. This was the beginning of her political life but also made her one of the youngest ward councillors the country has ever had. Her passion for children can be seen through her work that has targeted many children in Zambia. She is the founder of Bumbalambo foundation.[1]
