Byd y Dyn Hysbys: Swyngyfaredd yng Nghymru (Y Lolfa 1977) (The World of the Cunningman: Magic in Wales) by Kate Bosse-Griffiths is an examination of the history of the Dyn Hysbys, or cunning man, in Wales, based primarily on two the history of two dyn hysbys: John Harries, Cwrt-y-cadno, and an unnamed dyn hysbys from Sir Ddinbych.[1] In addition, Bosse-Griffiths includes discussion on magic from different periods of time, in Wales and further afield, and examples of practices, rituals, and spells.[2]

Llyfr Cyfrin Sir Ddinbych[edit]

The book is based on the contents of a Llyfr Cyfrin, or Secret Book, similar to the Book of Shadows in Wicca, from Denbighshire. The Llyfr Cyfrin was written by an unnamed magician who lived in Denbighshire in the early 19th century, and includes a collection of spells in Welsh and English, including rituals to call the tylwyth teg, or fairies, Welsh "counter-curses", Hermetic work, Enochian rituals, geomancy and astrology. A copy is available on request at the National Library of Wales.[3]
