C-Therm Technologies is a privately held company specializing in scientific and analytical instrumentation related to thermal conductivity measurement. C-Therm's headquarters is located in the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
C-Therm was launched in 2007 by entrepreneur Charles Cartmill, with Adam Harris as the managing director.[1]. The company was later purchased by Harris in 2021[2].
Products
C-Therm manufactures and provides thermal conductivity measurement instrumentation to academia and industry. Their main product line includes thermal conductivity instruments that employ different measurement techniques, namely, the Modified Transient Plane Source method, the Transient Plane Source method, the Transient Line Source method, and the Transient Hot Wire method (see Thermal conductivity measurement). Their products are used in academic research, research and development, and quality control applications [3].
C-Therm's sales primarily come from exports, with approximately 95% of sales being accounted for by exports[4].
History
Following the bankruptcy of Mathis Instruments, Charles Cartmill purchased the company assets from the co-founder and CEO, Nancy Mathis, in September 2007[5], with Adam Harris appointed as the managing director.
In 2016, C-Therm registered its Modified Transient Plane Source technique as an ASTM standardized methodology for thermal characterization of textile materials[6].
In 2020, C-Therm partnered with Metravib Material Testing (now Alpha Technologies) as the distributor of their dynamic mechanical analyzer instruments[7].
In 2021, Cartmill sold the ownership of the company to Harris for an undisclosed price[2].
In 2022, C-Therm partnered with Rigaku as the distributor of their thermal analysis instrumentation in North America[8]
