CANTERVICE is an American rock band from Dallas, Texas, formed by singer-songwriter and producer Robert Matlock in 2021.[1][2] The core of the band's music is concept-based, taking place in a future dystopian world run by an authoritarian government that has assumed control over all technology and information.[3][4]

History[edit]

Formation and early releases (2021)[edit]

CANTERVICE was formed in January of 2021 and was originally intended to be the solo project of Robert Matlock, who currently functions as the band's vocalist, producer, and primary songwriter. Matlock worked on the project's first single Void with former Downplay guitarist Evan Mckeever (currently in the band Nine Shrines), who was brought on as a mixing/mastering engineer and co-producer for the release.[5] Void was originally set to be a standalone release for the project, however due to the track gaining traction and spawning a growing fanbase that was demanding new music Matlock reconsidered the future of the project and started further sound and branding development for CANTERVICE.[6] Matlock began the formation of a full lineup for the project, initially bringing on friend Tim Walker on drums. They released a new single The Machine in December of 2021 and shortly there after recruited Kris Smith on guitar, and finally Eric Knighton on bass to complete the lineup.[7]

FiXT Music signing and the future (2022 - present)[edit]

On April 12, 2022 it was announced that CANTERVICE had signed a multi-album deal with the independent record label FiXT Music and re-released their previous singles Void and The Machine.[8][9] The band soon began working on new music and brought on Cameron Mizell as their new mixing/mastering engineer and producer.[10][11] Their latest single Doomsday released on July 8, 2022 and also featured a music video which was featured on VEVO New Rock.[12][13][14]
