History and Leadership

CCRI was founded in 1977 in Hawley, Minnesota by a group of families. https://www.thefmextra.com/living-well-with-ccri/

The organization's mission is "to enhance and enrich the lives and learning of people with disabilities."[4]

CCRI's executive director is Shannon Bock,[5] who has been with the organization since 1995 and was a 2024 YWCA Women of the Year nominee.[6] CCRI is also led by a 12-member board of directors.[7]

Programs

CCRI's programs include Supported Living Services, Independent by Design, Options for Independent Living, Mental Health Services, and Positive Support Services.

The Supported Living Services program provides 24-hour care for adults and children with disabilities.[8]

Options for Independent Living supports people with disabilities who need occasional support to accomplish goals and live more independently.[9]

Independent by Design uses technology and staff support to help more than 40 people with disabilities live independently.[10]

The organization's mental health program, which serves more than 100 people,[11] offers Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services, which helps people with serious and persistent mental illnesses, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Aftercare, a case management and short-term psychiatric stabilization service, and other coping skills to reach their goals. CCRI started the program in 2007.[12]

Accomplishments

Every year, CCRI holds events such as prom,[13] Candy Crawl at the Fargodome, and an adaptive summer camp called Camp HERO to help clients experience being part of the community.

In 2023, CCRI was chosen to win $100,000 from Gate City Bank in a contest for Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour charity drive in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota that raises millions of dollars for charities each year.[14]

Due to a lack of accessible housing in the community, CCRI has built a few accessible homes, including: https://www.inforum.com/newsmd/robin-huebner-reports-new-moorhead-home-for-men-with-disabilities-brings-happy-tears By Robin Huebner January 25, 2019 at 5:06 AM https://www.inforum.com/news/moorhead/shes-worth-it-moorhead-woman-gets-new-home-to-meet-unique-needs-thanks-to-donors-nonprofit https://www.inforum.com/news/fargo/ccri-unveils-plans-for-high-tech-home-supporting-disability-services
