CKIC 2021

The CK Continent International Football Cup, commonly known as the CK International Cup or the CKIC, is a international football tournament held every two or three years since 1953 between the nations of the CK Continent. From 1953 to 1965 it was held every two years, but since then it has been held every three years - except when that would mean a clash with a FIFA World Cup, in which case the tournament is only two years after the previous one.

There have been 29 editions so far, and they have been won by eight different national teams - Greet have won the competition ten times; Belac seven times; Ramadana have three titles; Greenleydangidongdong, Greenley, South Joeyland and North Shandu each have two; and Emmaland have a single title. Danland hold the record of most appearances in the final without winning the trophy, having lost in five separate CKIC finals (1963, 1979, 1987, 1989 and 1997).

The most recent edition, in 2021, was won by Ramadana, who acheived their third title with a 2-0 win over outsiders Arkadia in the final, at New Pento Stadium, Zusammen.

The next CKIC is planned for 2024, and will be hosted by Belac, seven-time champions. The host cities are planned to be Parind, Par, Santa Noj, Akloti, Silicon, Goldatón, and Kirkopolis. For more on the 2024 edition, see CKIC 2024.

Bidding process[edit]

Around 3 to 4 years before the tournament, the hosts for the upcoming CK International Cup are chosen. Normally, any team is permitted to host if they have not hosted a tournament within the last ten years (this has been an official rule since 1987). Nations can bid to host jointly, such as the joint JBI bid in 2019 from Greet, North and South Joeyland and Kangaroon, or individually, like Zusammen in 2021. When the bids are received and approved by the CKFF, the member nations (of which there are 16) will vote to decide the hosts.

The hosts for the 2024 tournament were decided in January 2021, at the CKFF six-monthly meeting. By that point, two bids had been submitted: a joint bid from Ramadana and South Shandu, and a bid from Belac, who had last hosted the tournament in 2008. The other 13 members were able to vote for the hosts:

Ramadana and South Shandu have said they will bid for the 2027 tournament. Ramadana last hosted the CKIC in 2011, while South Shandu are bidding to host it for the first time since 1965. Emmaland have also announced plans to bid for 2027 and/or 2029, as have Greenleydangidongdong, with rumours that they could plan a joint bid with Chilli.
