CK Suresh
CK Suresh (Art Director) CK Suresh (DOB: 03 August, 1958 Died on 20-February-2018) is one of the most respected art directors of the Malayalam & Tamil film industry. Apart from feature films he also has done art direction for several events, advertising films, both in India and abroad.
Career
In a career that spans over four decades, he has worked in a wide variety of feature films like Pattana Pravesham, Swaagatham, Kireedam, Artham, Dasaratham, Vadakku Nokki Yanthram, Thalayana Manthram, His Highness Abdulla, Aanavaal Mothiram, Sandesham, Aadhaaram, Ekalavyan, Chenkol, O’Faby, Ponthanmaada, Saagaram Saakshi, Aayirathil Oruvan,
He has worked with some of the most acclaimed Indian film directors, like IV Sasi, KS Sethumadhavan, Sibi Malayil, TV Chandran, Sathyan Anthikaad, Venu Nagavally, Sreenivasan, Shaji Kailas, during his career.
Owing to a paralytic stroke in the early 2000’s he had withdrawn himself from the film field and began concentrating more on events. He has been associated with ANZ Integrated Solutions, an Event Management Company based at Kochi, ever since. He has several events to his credit.
Early Years –
CK Suresh was born in Mumbai on. His father (Late) Hav PK Kuttan was in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) and owing to the nature of his job he used to travel all over India with his family. This form of extensive travelling in his formative years had a huge impact on him getting inclined towards creating visual art forms.
He had his formal education in fine arts from Madras School of Arts.
Suresh started his film career as an assistant art director in ace director I V Sasi’s Malayalam movie ‘Angadi’, by assisting one of first ever female art directors of India, Mohanamma in early 80’s. Later partnering together with IV Satheesh Babu, he began his journey as independent art director with KS Sethumadhavan’s 1986 release ‘Sunil Vayassu 20’.
CK Suresh also entered the Limca Book of Records on 8th September, 2012 when he led a 70-member team of volunteers to make World's Biggest Rangoli Pattern - 110.4 ft x 110.8 ft - 12,232 sq ft with the picture of Padmashree Dr. K.J. Yesudas. The pattern made in Rangoli powder at St. George Anglo Indian School Ground was completed in 1hour 44 Minutes.
Personal Life – He was previously married to Sushama and they have a daughter Sureshma.
He was admitted to Lissy Hospital, Kochi following a similar stroke on 20 february 2018, morning at around 11 am. Displaying amazing solidarity, his colleagues from the film industry, some of them previously his assistants and Art Directors like Joseph Nellickal, Shiji Pattanam, Bava and film directors Sibi Malayil, Thomas Sebastian, M. Padmakumar etc came together, to give him medical aid and support him in his last moments.
He breathed his last at 4.30 pm. The last rites was held at his ancestral house at Calicut on 21st February 2018.
