CLEPA
The Comité de Liaison des fabricants d’Equipements et de Pièces Automobiles or the European Association of Automotive Suppliers is the main body overseeing the automotive component industry of Europe.
History
The body was formed in 1959. The automotive sector represents 30% of the research and development in Europe.
Structure
The body has its head office in Belgium.
A former chief executive of CLEPA until 2016 was Jean-Marc Gales.
Function
When counterfeit automotive components were entering the automotive industry in Europe in the 1970s, it helped coordinate action and protection across the European industry.
Awards
The organisation holds its annual CLEPA Innovation Awards in October,[1] and the annual Aftermarket Conference in June for the European automotive aftermarket.
