The CSX Chicago Heights Subdivision is a railway line that runs between Harvey Junction and Glenwood.[1]

History

The part Chicago Heights-Faithorn closed in 1979. The line now ends at Joe Orr Road. The line previously extended south through Chicago Heights to Faithorn, beginning the Milwaukee Road line south into Indiana. Milwaukee Road had trackage rights over the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line in and out of Chicago. Now Milwaukee Road successor CP Rail uses the CSX Woodland Subdivision to reach Terre Haute, IN.

Instructions[2]

1. Instructions relating to operating rules

Highway & Street Crossings

1. Southward trains must not foul Wood Street crossing until permission to enter CNIC main track is received. Northward trains must not foul 162nd Street crossing until permission to enter CNIC main track is received.

2. Rusty Rail Conditions

Due to rusty rail conditions on Main Track south of North Harvey, highway grade crossings protected by flasher lights and/or gates must not be fouled until it is known that flashers have been operated for at least 20 seconds or gates have lowered. If traffic control devices fail to operate, movement over crossings must be protected by members of the crew, in accordance with CSXT Operating Rule 100-E.
