History
The business Speedy Cash was founded in 1997 by Douglas Rippel, Michael McKnight, and Chadwick Faulkner.[2][3] Its first location was in Riverside, California, and Speedy Cash offered payday loans, check-cashing, money orders, and wire transfers. Speedy Cash Holdings Corp. was then created in 2008. They acquired Cash Money in 2011 and The Money Box in 2012. In May 2016, Speedy Cash Holdings Corp. changed its name to CURO Financial Technologies Corp. (CURO Group Holdings Corp.). CURO became a publicly traded company (NYSE: CURO) in 2017. Their headquarters is located in Wichita, Kansas.[1]
CURO operates Speedy Cash, Rapid Cash, Cash Money, Avío Credit, Revolve Finance, and Opt+ in the U.S. and Cash Money, LendDirect, and Opt+ in Canada.[2][4] Their business Speedy Cash is a member of the Online Lenders Alliance (OLA), which represents members of the online financial services community. In 2019, Speedy Cash became the official corporate sponsor of the SpeedyCash.com 400, an annual 250.5-mile (403.14 km) NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race held at the Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth, Texas.[5]
In 2018, investor Yellowdog Partners LP filed a class-action lawsuit against CURO, arguing that CURO had artificially inflated its stock.[4]
