From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The CVV - Life Valuation Center, founded in São Paulo in 1962, is a non-profit, philanthropic civil association recognized as a Federal Public Utility since 1973.

It provides a voluntary and free service of emotional support and suicide prevention for all the people who want and need to talk, under total secrecy and anonymity.

The institution is associated with Befrienders Worldwide, which brings together similar entities from around the world, and participated in the task force that developed the National Policy on Suicide Prevention of the Ministry of Health, with whom, since 2015, it has a cooperation agreement for the implementation of a national suicide prevention hotline.

Line 188 started to operate in Rio Grande do Sul and, in September 2017, began its expansion throughout Brazil, which will be completed on 06/30/2018, with the integration of all states.

The contacts with the CVV are made by the 188 telephones (24 hours and without cost of connection), personally (in the 93 call centers) or by the site www.cvv.org.br, by the chat e-mail. In these channels, more than 2 million annual visits are carried out by approximately 2,400 volunteers, located in 19 states plus the Federal District.

In addition to the visits, the CVV develops, throughout the country, other activities related to emotional support, with actions open to the community that stimulate self-knowledge and better coexistence in group and with oneself. The institution also maintains the Hospital Francisca Julia that attends people with mental disorders and chemical dependency in São José dos Campos-SP.
