Chozhangath Krishnakumar is an Indian politician and the Deputy Chairman of Palakkad municipality. He is also serving as the State secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala.[2]
Personal life
Krishnakumar was born to Krishananunni and he hails from Ayyapuram in Palakkad district. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Calicut in 1991.[1] [3]
The Deputy Chairman of Palakkad Municipality
C. Krishnakumar has been elected for four consecutive times in Local body elections. He has served as a ward councilor in different wards of Palakkad municipality for 18 years, starting from the year 2000 to date. He contested his first election in the year 2000. For 10 years from then, that is till 2010, he served as the sitting ward councilor of Ayyapuram East. He further contested for Ayyapuram West in the year 2010 and won the elections. He served Ayyapuram West till 2015. During the 2015 Local body election, C Krishnakumar was the candidate for Koppam ward. C. Krishnakumar won the election and was elected with a majority in the 2015 Local body election in Koppam ward in Palakkad Municipality.
C Krishnakumar was then appointed as the deputy Chairman of Palakkad Municipality by Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala[4][5][6]
Achievement
Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation
Krishnakumar brought the Amrut Scheme to Palakkad municipality. An amount of INR 235 Cr was provided from the central government for basic infrastructure development in Palakkad Municipality.
24 hours CCTV surveillance
Cochin shipyard supported the installation of 150 CCTV cameras in Palakkad Municipality for 24 hours CCTV surveillance of the city.

C. Krishnakumar always faced strong opposition.

2000-2005 Ayyapuram East
In the Palakkad municipality election, he was elected from Ayyapuram East ward with 65% of votes polled.
2005-2010 Ayyapuram East
In the Palakkad municipality election, he was elected from Ayyapuram East ward with 61% of votes polled. [8]
2010-2015 Ayyapuram West
In the Palakkad municipality election, he was elected from Ayyapuram West ward with 58% of votes polled. He was the standing committee chairman for Education, Sports and culture of Palakkad Municipality during this period. He implemented a scheme VIDYADEEPAM for improving the quality of learning of 10th std students, which raised the pass percentage of a school (Big Bazar HSS) from as low as 36% to 100%. He also organised an ADALAT to resolve welfare pension applications which had been pending for years. 4300 applications were received and sorted through this ADALAT. [9]
2015-2020 Koppam
In the Palakkad municipality election, he contested from Koppam and defeated the municipality chairman / INC District General secretary PV Rajesh.
2016 Assembly Election Malampuzha Constituency
[10] In State Assembly elections, he contested at Malampuzha against the CPIM stalwart, ex-Chief Minister and ex-Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan, the strongest leader in Kerala, and still he was elected as runner-up.
2019 Palakkad (Lok Sabha constituency)
[11] NDA candidate C.krishnakumar gained +6.3% in votes compared to the previous Palakkad (Lok Sabha constituency).
Political career
He started his political career through Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from the age of 12, i.e. since 1984. He started Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, for the first time in PMG High School, Palakkad. While pursuing his Pre-degree, he was elected as leader secretary and then President of ABVP. Soon after that, he became district leader of ABVP.
He was dedicated to his duty as RSS Mukyashikshak, Sakha Karvyavah and vidhyarthi Pramukh till 1997. He was BJYM Palakkad district president from 2003 to 2006. He was the National Executive Member of BJYM from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he was the BJP district general secretary. He was the BJP Palakkad district president from 2009 to 2015. In 2011 and 2012, the BJP Palakkad District committee concentrated on booth level organization work; C Krishnakumar used to travel the whole district and almost reached all booths during this period.
In 2014, during Amit Shah’s rally in Palakkad, Krishnakumar assured that "In the next election BJP will lead Palakkad municipality" and he achieved it during the 2015 local body election.[12][13]
Krishnakumar is the BJP Kerala State Secretary since 2015.[1] [14]
