Cackleberry Island is located on Lake Nipigon in the Canadian province of Ontario,[1] 1,100 km northwest of the capital Ottawa.

Overview

The island is mostly uninhabited, with less than two inhabitants per square kilometre.[2] The area is part of the hemiboreal climate zone.[3] The average annual temperature is -1° C. The warmest month is August, when the average temperature is 15° C, and the coldest is February, at -24° C.[4] Average annual rainfall is 947 millimetres. The wettest month is May, with an average of 127 mm of precipitation, and the driest is February, with 45 mm of precipitation.[5]
