Cafer Pasha was an Ottoman statesman who served in various positions under Murad III, Mehmed III, and Ahmed I.[2]
Biography
He was educated in Enderun. Later, he became Lord of the Janissaries in 1586, governor of Anatolia in 1588, and Rumelia in 1590. In 1593–94, he was promoted to the post of Divan by Murad III. He served as governor of Egypt from 1597 to 1601, and then was appointed vice-chancellor of the Danube. He held that position until Ahmed I married him to his aunt, Fatma Sultan, in December 1604, at which point he returned to the capital and was given a seat in the imperial council with the rank of full vizier. He was appointed governor of Cyprus in 1608. He died in 1609 while in office and was buried in the Eyüp Sultan Mosque.
