Caldwell Law, formerly known as Caldwell Intellectual Property Law, is a Boston-based law firm whose practice areas include intellectual property law, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and corporate law. The firm is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and has offices in Los Angeles and London.[1]

History

Caldwell was founded in 2016 by Keegan Caldwell. In 2021, the firm was included on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies.[2] After the ranking, the firm reported receiving correspondence from incarcerated individuals seeking patent assistance, giving rise to the firm's formal pro bono program.[3]

In 2021, Caldwell expanded by opening offices in Santa Monica, California, and London, United Kingdom. The firm later merged with Los Angeles-based boutique Palisades Patent Law.[4]

In early 2024, Caldwell appointed Marcus Wolter as Partner and Global Director of its Corporate Practice. Before joining the firm, he worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and advised on cross-border M&A and venture capital transactions.[5]

Practice areas

Caldwell’s Intellectual Property practice encompasses patent prosecution, portfolio management, post-grant proceedings before the PTAB, trademark counseling, and trade secret litigation.[3]

The firm’s Corporate practice, led by Marcus Wolter, includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital, cross-border transactions, and corporate governance.[6]

Litigation encompasses patent infringement, ITC Section 337 proceedings, and commercial disputes. Caldwell represents Solos Technology Ltd. in a patent infringement lawsuit filed against Meta Platforms and EssilorLuxottica over smart-glasses technology used in Ray-Ban Meta products.[7]
