Caleb Samuel Stanton[1] (born October 6, 2000) is an independent Christian Contemporary artist from Ypsilanti, MI. He has released many singles, one studio album: Compass (2019)[2], and one extended play: My Prayer (2019)[3]. He has been writing songs since the age of 14 and loves telling stories through music. Taking inspiration from artists such as TobyMac, Matthew West, and many others, he has set out to combine many styles into his music. He stepped into the industry with his debut Christmas single in November of 2018[4]. Since then, he has released an EP and multiple singles. His single "Already Taken"[5] was a big success, reaching thousands across the globe.

Early Life

Caleb Stanton was born on October 6, 2000 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As a child he loved the aerospace industry and planned to be a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force when he finished High School. While attending his final years of High School, he felt God's call to the ministry. He ended up at Cedarville University as a Worship Major. He is currently a Freshman.

Musical Career

Stanton started writing songs at age 14. He wrote them behind his bedroom door, where no one could hear. As time went on, he discovered that writing music was his passion and that he wanted to make this a part of his future somehow. He has been a songwriter and independent musician since 2019. He has released a full length instrumental Album (Compass)[2], a Christmas EP (How I Want It to Be)[6], a CCM EP (My Prayer)[3], and many singles.[4][5]

For Us (2018)

In November of 2018, Stanton released his debut single "For Us."[4] It is a Christmas release that reminds listeners of the reason for the season. It's about the joy that Christ brings, and not the joy that the magical season brings.

Compass (2019)

In September of 2019, he started writing his first studio release.[2] An instrumental studio album. Within the next few months, he finished writing and began production. The album was then completed by early December, and was released on New Year's of 2019. The release is a series of songs that melodically describe life events. He put out a standard and deluxe version of this release.

My Prayer (2019)

His first CCM release was released on May 3, 2019.[3] He began producing the EP in late 2018.

Two months prior to the EP's release, Stanton released his debut CCM song "Give It All (Unplugged)[7]," which was accepted very well among his existing audience. Since its release, it has reached thousands of people and has spread the message of Christ to the hopeless.

The rest of 2019

After the release of My Prayer, Stanton released a couple of new singles and a Christmas EP.

In June, he released Move On[8], a song about moving on from hard times as a Christian.

In August, Stanton had a guest interview on Detroit's WMUZ "The Light."[9] He talked with WMUZ's Mike McIntyre and played his single Give It All[7] for eastern Michigan.

Later in August, after a short break from producing, Stanton released his hit song Already Taken.[5] Already Taken was placed on Spotify's New Music Friday Christian[10] playlist by Spotify's playlist curators. It then went on to be heard by thousands of people in every country that Spotify supports. Tony Cummings from Cross Rhythms[11] says in a song review, "[Already Taken is] A clever song about a search for love with a difference...this single is a brilliantly conceived and nimbly executed piece of lilting, mid-tempo pop from this Ypsilanti, Michigan songsmith."[12] The song continues to reach hundreds of people each month, providing hope in their relationships.

In November of 2019, Stanton re-released his debut single For Us[4] in a Christmas EP (How I Want It to Be))[6], along with four new tracks. This is a nostalgic EP featuring songs that refer to life as a kid.

The Future Ahead

2020 started out fairly quiet for Stanton. He released his first single of the year (Conquers All)[13] on March 27th ahead of his next project, due out in late 2020. As the year goes on, he seeks to serve his Creator above all else. Telling the stories that He wants him to tell.

Personal Life

Growing up in a very musical oriented family, Caleb's life has always been filled with music. Listening to it. Playing it. Any form of it. He started taking piano lessons at the age of seven and absolutely hated it. He saw it as a chore. It wasn't until the age of twelve that playing turned into something he enjoyed.

In 2011, Caleb moved with his family from his origin town of Kalamazoo to his current town. This meant that a new church had to be found. As fun as the change was for Caleb, finding a new church and new friends was hard. When they finally landed on Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor, MI, the seeds that had been planted in the past started to grow. The habit of going to church turned into a deep love for the Church.

In his freshman year of high school, Caleb started playing keys for GBC's worship team. Which turned music, something he enjoyed, into his passion. Over the past few years, the Worship Pastor at GBC has been Caleb's mentor and helped him realize God's calling for his life; To be a Worship Pastor.

Stanton now attends Cedarville University as a Worship Major, where he plans to graduate as a professional musician in spring, 2023.
