Caliber 3
Caliber 3 is an academy for security and counter-terrorism located in the industrial park in Gush Etzion - near the southern entrance of Efrat.
It is a professional school in which all levels of security training is taught to security guards in East Jerusalem, security crossings, police stations and government offices.In addition to providing professional training, Caliber 3 also offers tourists from abroad the opportunity to experience training as an IDF soldier.
History[edit]
Caliber 3 was founded in 2003 by Lt. Col. (res.) Sharon Gat.
Col. Gat started Caliber 3 with the goal of providing Jews and Friends of Israel a place where they could train to fight and defend themselves as per their motto: " And he said- to teach the people of Judah the art of Bow and Arrow…” (2 Samuel 1:18).
Caliber 3 started a tourism program adapted for civilians who are not gun owners. The program teaches the IDF's decision-making process during security events and the proper and safe use of firearms and self-defense.
The school is named after the late Captain Hagai (Chaim) Lev, who was killed during an operational activity in the Gaza Strip.
Professional Courses[edit]
Caliber 3 offers professional training courses at a various levels.
There are 4-day courses for educational institutions, 6-day courses for certain facilities, 10-day courses for the Israel Police and East Jerusalem and various government offices, 15 day courses for the Jerusalem light rail security company ,20 day courses for the Jerusalem security crossings, a 3 month bodyguard course(for protection of ministers and members of Knesset and embassy security).

Private training[edit]
Caliber 3 attaches special importance to imparting the knowledge and skill needed in times of warfare to civilians who do not work in security. Professional training is offered to civilian firearms holders and self-defense courses are available to women, men, children and people with disabilities. In addition, Caliber 3 has a long-standing program for preparing youth for their military service. This program includes a combination of combat training and knowledge on improving physical fitness while instilling values of Zionism, discipline, mutual assistance and strengthening their connection the State of Israel. This program has proven itself in integrating graduates of the program into elite IDF units.

At Caliber 3 there are several unique programs that allow tourists to experience what it's like to train in the Israel army. Visitors, some of whom hold military or police command positions, arrive from all over the world to learn about Israeli combat methods, self-defense, Zionism and the values that Caliber 3 stands for.

Summer Boot Camp in Israel[edit]
Every summer, Caliber 3 runs a unique boot camp for high-school-age boys from around the world.
Under the guidance of professional instructors trained in the Israeli Army, campers learn to work as a team and develop leadership skills and self-discipline along with a deep Jewish connection to Israel.

The Caliber 3 facility[edit]
The Caliber 3 facility is built on a mountainside near the settlement of Efrat but far from any residential homes.
The complex includes a presentation room, a dining room, two Krav Maga training rooms. six spacious outdoor ranges, an open area with structures that simulate rooms for close quarter combat training and combat rappelling and a training structure for the Jerusalem light rail guards.
