Calling Karan
Calling Karan is a radio show hosted by Bollywood director Karan Johar[1]. The show aired on Ishq 104.8 FM from December 4th, 2017 to March 8, 2018.[2].
Launching[3], Karan Johar, as an RJ who gives advice on love and relationships taking questions from callers from across the country who are facing issues in their love lives[4].
The show is aired thrice a day[5] across Indian metropolitan cities: Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Calling Karan is a show about relationship advice that allowed radio listeners[6] to call and register with their queries. A few registrations got to speak to Karan Johar and seek his advice about the problems they were facing with their relationships.
The Announcement[edit]
Before the show was launched, Karan Johar posted multiple updates on his social media profiles. Multiple short videos were then posted online that managed to build anticipation for the show. Finally, Karan Johar himself revealed in a tweet[7] that he would be hosting the show on Ishq 104.8 FM as an RJ.[8]

The Show[edit]
The show[10] was aired thrice a day with tune-in promos playing every hour. It was aired as 60 individual episodes over a period of 3 weeks. Every episode was a two-hour mix of talk and Karan Johar’s favorite love songs.
After being broadcast, the episodes were posted across digital media in video format.
Each webisode had four segments. An opening where Karan talked about the topic he was going to cover that day, the first caller query which involved him speaking to a caller with a problem. This was followed by the celebrity caller of the day where an A-list celebrity called Karan to talk to him about the show or ask a question. This was then followed by another caller asking a question. The latter half of the show included Karan taking a ‘Reverse Rapid Fire’ where he took rapid-fire questions from his listeners. The show ended with a closing segment called ‘Karan's Verdict’ where we gave a final word on the topic discussed that day.

The show gained mass coverage in print and digital publications including Cosmopolitan[11], Hindustan Times[12], PopXo[13], The Quint[14], IndianExpress Online[15] and Firstpost[16].
Awards[edit]
Calling Karan won the Most Creative Campaign award at the India Radio Forum 2017 and was the runner-up for the Best Interactive Idea award. Karan Johar was also the runner-up in RJ of the Year (English) 2018 at the India Radio Forum 2017.[17]
