Camp Chef is a company that makes and sells outdoor products generally related to food preparation and lighting. The company was founded in Logan, Utah in 1990 and has grown consistently since then. It is now a subsidiary of Vista Outdoor.[1]

Products[edit]

As of late 2016, the firm sold about 250 products including gas-fueled camp stoves and ovens; Dutch ovens, griddles, pots, pans, skillets, and utensils; smokers and smoke vaults; fire pits and fire grills; stove bags, barbecue grill bags, accessory bags and griddle bags; lighting products such as lanterns and stove lights; accessories for burners, ovens, grills, camp fires, and sport utility vehicles; and miscellaneous goods such as water heaters, thermometers, shelves, windscreens, seasonings, and cookbooks.[1][2]

Management[edit]

As of late 2016, Camp Chef was led by its president, Ty Measom.[1][3]

Acquisition by Vista Outdoor[edit]

In fall of 2016, the firm was acquired by the publicly traded Vista Outdoor. Vista Outdoor makes a wide range of outdoor products and sporting goods. Vista Outdoor paid a total of $74 million for Camp Chef. $60 million was paid in cash at closing. $14 million will be paid in equal yearly portions over a three years subject to Camp Chef meeting performance targets.[1]
