Camp Equinunk
Camp Equinunk, brother camp of Camp Blue Ridge, is a summer camp in Pennsylvania, U.S. It is located in Equinunk, Pennsylvania in Wayne County.[1]
Camp Equinunk was founded in 1920 by Chief Edward Lehrer[2]. Three years later, Camp Blue Ridge was founded, separating Camp Equinunk with a 75 acre lake,[3] Union Lake. Edward Lehrer, a member of the Pioneers of Camping Club[4], had his posterity lead on the camp. Camp Equinunk is located on 400 acres of land[5] with it's sister camp, Camp Blue Ridge. Camp Equinunk also hosts the Equinunk Cup every year, a major hockey tournament for the camps in the surrounding area.
The camp is currently owned by Richie and Sheryl Kamen.[6] Richie and Sheryl reside in South Florida when not running the camp.
Camp Equinunk also is the location for the annual music festival Equifunk[7].
Seth Davis, a famous sports announcer, wrote the book Equinunk, Tell Your Story: My Return to Summer Camp,[8] highlighting his experiences at camp.
