Canuxploitation

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Canuxploitation is a film genre that encompasses everything from B-grade to Z-grade movies made in Canada. Most Canuxploitation movies were produced throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s to take advantage of government tax incentives. Very few Canuxploitation films are being produced these days, but Canuxploitation films are still being produced by a handful of Canadian Filmmakers, who mostly work in the horror genre. Often derided or outright ignored by Canadian film critics and Canadian cultural historians, these horror, science fiction, comedy, action and exploitation films present viewers with a film legacy that challenges a traditional understanding of Canadian movies. From a spectrum range that covers everything from movies extremely violent and horrifying, all the way to languid art films, and happy tales of Prairie life, Canuxploitation films are totally within a category of their own. Canadian film historian Paul Corupe coined the term Canuxploitation film, and is the World wide authority when it comes to Canuxploitation films.
