Capital Hill Autonomous Zone
On June 8th, 2020, the Seattle police abandoned the East Precinct[1], hoping that it would lead to de-escalation between protests and the police. On the night of the 8th, protesters moved in and started setting up food and medical tents[2], along with anti-car barricades in an area of 6 blocks[3][4]. There have been reports of protesters doing armed patrols to protect the autonomous zone and the people in it[5][6]. The police have not responded to the zone yet.
