CarLotz was founded in 2011 by Michael Bor, Will Borland, and Aaron Montgomery[2], opening its first location in Midlothian, Virginia. This was followed by a second store in the Richmond area and a third in Chesapeake, Virginia[3]
As of December 2020, CarLotz operates eight locations in five states[4]
In January 2021, CarLotz went public and began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange through a Special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC).[5]
