Carlos Felipe María Otón Lucas Marcos of Aviano Melchor de Habsburgo-Lorraine and Arenberg (born in Mexico City, Mexico, October 18, 1954) is the second son and first male of Archduke Felix of Habsburg-Lorraine and of the Princess and Duchess Ana Eugenia of Arenberg, by paternal line, is the grandson of Blessed Charles I, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary and Bohemia and Empress Zita, and great-great-nephew of Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico and Empress Carlota of Mexico, and of Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria and the Empress Elisabeth better known as Sissi..[1][2][3]

Academic training[edit]

He has studied at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico and the Colegio de México, as well as a Masters in Business Administration and Finance at the School of Business Administration and Management (ESADE) Barcelona.[4]

Among his jobs are having worked at AWT Internationale Handels und Finanzierung A.G., in Vienna, Austria from 1988 to 1990; as Delegate in Vienna, Bonn, and Montreal, Canada of the Foreign Trade Bank (BANCOMEXT); Currently and since 2000 he is president of Habsburg Financial Services, a wealth management company. His great taste for music has also led him to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the Music Festival of Morelia, which he presided over from 2012 to 2018. Carlos Felipe is fluent in several languages ​​such as Spanish, German, French, English and Catalan , in addition to understanding several European languages.[1][4]

Marriage and Heirs[edit]

He married Miss Annie-Claire Andree Christine Lacrambe, daughter of Dr. Henri Lacrambe and Fanny Pruvost de Montrichard, in Pau, with whom he is still married.

He had two children, Julián Lorenzo Pedro of Habsburg-Lorraine (born May 29, 1994 in Montreal, Canada.) and Louis-Damien Henri Maria Marcos d'Aviano Melchor of Habsburg-Lorraine (born September 23, 1998 in Montreal, Canada).[1][5]

Carlos Felipe is an intellectual and connoisseur of the history of the house of Austria and his family traditions, this has led him to give lectures about his uncle great-great uncle, Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico and his family. On the other hand, he conducts conferences around the world on financial derivatives and asset management using derivative or structured financial products[1][6]

Titles and styles[edit]

Neither the Political Constitution of the Republic of Austria nor that of the United Mexican States recognize nobility.
