Journalist Carlos Javier Jarquín

Carlos Javier Jarquín, born on June 26, 1990, in Rancho Grande, Matagalpa, Nicaragua, has been residing in Costa Rica since 2016. He is a writer, poet, columnist, manager, and international cultural promoter. Part of his literary work has been published in international anthologies and broadcast on FM radio and online in different countries. His articles have been published in more than 100 national and international newspapers and magazines, many of which are print newspapers.[1]

Biography[edit]

Jarquín is the son of Juan Francisco Mejía Castro (b. 1963) and Juana Rocha Jarquín (b. 1975). His parents lived together briefly, and his father abandoned his mother during her pregnancy. Consequently, his mother gave him her second surname. When Jarquín was two, his mother remarried, and her new husband did not allow her to live with her son. Jarquín did not meet his mother until he was 14 and his father until he was 21. He grew up under the care of his maternal grandmother.[2]

He cultivates different literary and non-literary genres and subgenres, including poetry, chronicles, opinion pieces, forewords, reviews, and interviews.
