Carlos Olivencia (born March 9, 1957) is a trombone player originally from Hawaii and raised in Puerto Rico. He moved to New York City in 1980, where he became part of the salsa music scene.
Olivencia played trombone with Feliciano Carmelo in Brooklyn and was an early member of La Moderna Vibración in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The group is known as the first band where Frankie Ruiz performed.
In addition to music, Olivencia holds a master's degree in taxation law and has minor degrees in music and computer science. He also performed with the Lehman College Latin Band in New York.
