Carlos Pittsburgh (born May 6, 1978) is a Dutch-American animator, actor, director, producer, and writer. He is best known for creating the non-stop motion animated series Starman and Three Friends and The Green and Mr. Sama, along with Lucas Sama, a Japanese-American animator and creator. He is also the founder of AmericanSama Studios, a company that specializes in producing cartoon animation for television and film.
History
Carlos Pittsburgh was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1978. He developed an interest in animation at an early age, and studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts. He moved to the United States in 2001, and worked as an animator for various studios, such as Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney.
In 2016, he first made an official blog online fandom community named El People's Database, created by his partner Lucas Sama, and his friend Heather Dyke.
In 2017, Carlos Pittsburgh created his first children's non-stop motion television animated series, Starman and Three Friends. The series features the adventures of Starman, a star-shaped wand who can create anything he wants, and his three friends, Green, Yellow, and Blue, who are markers with different personalities and abilities. The series was also well-received by critics and audiences, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program in 2018.
In 2018, Carlos Pittsburgh created his second children's non-stop motion animated series, The Green and Mr. Sama. The series follows the meetings of Green George, a green-marker, youngest brother of Yellow and Blue who can play and talk with kids, and Mr. Sama, a big-mouth, crazy-lipped character who is based on the creator Lucas Sama himself.
