Carole Kortenhoven Boller is an American artist living in Newport Beach, California.

Early life and education[edit]

Carole Boller was born in Harvey, Illinois. However, she and grew up in South Holland, Illinois.[1] Her earliest works of art were largely inspired by light and water in nature. Boller studied at Calumet College of St. Joseph[1] and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

She then traveled to Europe where she practiced painting in Antibes,[2] France. The difficulty speaking a foreign language emphasized the importance of looking at art as a non-verbal communication.  “It was incredibly challenging.  It changed my perspective on the power of art to persuade an audience.” [3]

Art[edit]

Carole Boller's plein air paintings have enigmatic colors, energy lives within her beach scenes. Boller's aesthetic balances light and water. Her early works were inspired by nature around Lake Michigan and the surrounding lakes.  Carole explained that “painting in the midwest weather was difficult, no matter what season. The shadows were dull and created a challenge to find fresh color.”`[4]

In the 90's Carole Boller found the ocean at Newport Beach.
