Carpet Exchange is a privately owned specialty floor covering company founded in 1987 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

Overview[edit]

The firm has 16 retail locations across the Front Range in Colorado and one outlet in Cheyenne, Wyoming.[1]

History[edit]

In 1985, Bruce Odette was managing a store called the Carpet Yard in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado.[2] In 1987, Gary Schwartz, Michael Goldfarb, and Odette purchased the Carpet Yard and changed the name to Carpet Exchange.[2] In 1997, Shaw Industries purchased Carpet Exchange and all its stores.[2]

Shaw sold the retail side in 1998.[2] After subsequent owners filed for bankruptcy in 2000, the original trio of Odette, Schwartz, and Goldfarb bought their business back along with all 11 stores.[2]

As of 2019, Odette and Schwartz co-own Carpet Exchange. Schwartz is a silent partner.[3]
