Carrier Pidge
Comment: Wait and see if this actually gets sustained coverage to demonstrate notability. Looks like it's very likely this subject might just go through a brief news cycle and never be heard from again. Sulfurboy (talk) 17:07, 18 August 2026 (UTC)

Carrier Pidge, stylised in all lower case as carrier pidge,[1] is an instant messaging app developed by Noah Iarrobino and released in April 2026. The app's unique selling point is that messages are sent through a virtual carrier pigeon that travels at 110 miles per hour rather than delivered instantly, which gained it significant attention in August 2026.[2][3]
History
According to a X post by Iarrobino, the app was developed in around three weeks.[4] The app was noted for its similarities to fellow messaging service Roost, also released in April 2026, but Iarrobino claims that this was coincidental.[2]
Features
The app is a basic instant messaging software, where users can send messages to their friends, referred to as their 'flock', with conversations in a section of the app called the 'aviary'.[2] Each message is sent by a virtual carrier pigeon that travels at 110mph, with a variance of 25%. Travel distance is calculated by the GPS location of the sender and the recipient.[5] There is also a 0.2% chance that the pigeon will 'die', meaning that the message is never received. There is a map feature that lets users track their pigeon in real time as it reaches its destination.[6]
The app also contains in-app purchases, with users able to buy extra pigeons to send more messages or replace ones which have died.[6] Each friendship gives one free pigeon.
