Early Life[edit]
Carsten Overgaard was born in Herlufsholm parish (today a part of the town Naestved).[1] He has a younger brother.
He participated in orienteering and completed a number of jogging and cycling events during his school years [2].
Career[edit]
Starting to work parttime in retail at the age of 15, he soon began his career in the IT-industry working full-time since 1986.
He worked primarely setting up ERP-solutions installing products like HERA-soft, Danmax, PC-PLUS, Concorde and later products which were part of the Microsoft Dynamics family of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) software applications.
He was Chief information officer in Formula, which was one of the leaders in the printing industry from 1997 to 2014. He was board member of Impact Data, which delivered ERP-solution software in Copenhagen from 1996 to 1997 [3].
Closely specialized delivering solutions for the graphics industry in Denmark[4] which collapsed after Denmark initialized digitalization scheme resulting in collapse of the graphic industry, he switched to supporting Human resource management software in 2015. After the introduction of General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679), he has focused on changing setup of existing HR systems for the French company Talentsoft so the systems will be compliant to the EU regulation.
Activism[edit]
He is the founder of the website secretprisonsforteens.dk, which was created to battle institutionalized child abuse [5]. Due to an huge increase in the costs of hosting websites in Denmark, he has announced that the website will be retired in the coming years. Together with other organizations like Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth and Domestic prisoners of conscience, the group behind the website continues to gather information servicing local legislators.
Personal Life[edit]
He married his wife in 1995 and has to children born in 1998 and 2002 [1].
He continued to participate exercise event. He finished marathons in Copenhagen, Helsinki and New York and were among the first 500 Danes to finish an Ironman event in 1991. Today he supports his firm in sport events and finish exercise runs with his children [2].
He also wrote a number of novels using various pen names.
