Cart Path In Regulation(CPIR) is a golf statistic found in August 2023. It is calculated by (# of cart paths hit off of tee box) divided by (# of tee box shots). For example, if Jim played 18 holes of golf and on his total tee box shots he hit 11 cart paths, his CPIR would be 61%.
This statistic can determine a player's accuracy and control for future shots that have a cart path within range. We can use a standard-deviation equation to get a precise range, left to right, of where a players tee shot will land. A plus (+)15 rating would mean the golfer averages 15 yards to the right of where they are aiming. A minus (-)15 rating would equal 15 yards to the left of the initial aim point. Adding a rating to a players CPIR can help determine the final destination of a tee shot.
Example: The golfer is on the 4th hole and has yet to hit a cart path. There is a cart path riding along the right side of the fairway about 45 yards away. The golfer has a 20% CPIR and a rating of +25. With this knowledge, the golfer will aim 45 yards to the left of the center of the fairway to ensure the ball will not hit a cart path and have a successful fairway second shot.
