Christian Castro (born March 19, 1993) is an American rapper and songwriter from Long Island, NY. Castro initially gained recognition as a guest performer on the Music television series 106 & Park in 2013. [1]. Castro was also featured on Hip-Hop sites across the internet such as Hotnewhiphop.com for his single "I Know" [2]. He released it on a mixtape titled City Lights 2 under the record label Flowmatic Entertainment. Castro has continued to release singles via soundcloud.com including I'm Yours [3], a remix of the artist G-Eazy "Acting Up" featuring Davon Baldwin, which currently has over 267,000 streams.
Music career
While attending North Babylon High School, Long Island rapper Castro, 24, born as Christian Castro, started to record music over popular hip hop beats and post it on the internet. After he gained a positive reaction from his peers, he decided to pursue rapping further.
In 2012, Castro released a mixtape titled City Lights 2, which included a song titled “I Know”. This song was recognized by Hotnewhiphop.com [4] where they labeled him as a “HEATSEEKER” and an artist to watch out for. In 2013, this song ended up in the hands of BET producers. Castro was then invited to perform as a “W.O.W” guest on the TV series 106 & Park. [5]. After his performance, Castro’s recognition and fan base started to grow. Castro then started to perform at local music venues in Long Island, NY.
Castro later released a song titled I’m Yours [6], a remix of the artist G-Eazy "Acting Up" featuring Davon Baldwin, which currently has over 267,000 streams via soundcloud.
Castro’s music takes a different approach to the hip-hop and rap culture by adding in different sounds from various genres. In his songs, he frequently raps about dreams and his movement called “LIFELONGDREAMS,” where he tries to push this theme in hopes to inspire others who are trying to achieve their dreams [7]. By following these beliefs, he’s been granted many opportunities such as performing on national television on BET’s 106 & Park, opening for rappers such as Lloyd Banks, Juelz Santana, and California native Lil Debbie, as well as being featured on the front page of hip hop websites. Castro has also taken opportunities that have a positive effect on the community, such as being part of a charity event for cancer fighter Sean Kehoe from Long Island. His performance from this event was also featured on News 12 Long Island. [8]
