Caitlin Canning (born May 5, 1999), known by her stage name Cate, is a Canadian singer and songwriter born and raised in Abbotsford, Canada.[1]

Biography

Caitlin Canning was born in Abbotsford, Canada in 1999. Cate began her musical career in high school, fronting a country-influenced band.[2] Following high school, Cate relocated to Vancouver and began making regular trips down the West Coast for songwriting sessions in Los Angeles. During one such session, Cate met fellow artist Cian Ducrot, who went on to produce Cate’s upcoming EP Love, The Madness.[3]

Cate then moved to London to pursue her musical career alongside Ducrot and Canadian songwriter Tessa Mouzourakis.[4]

Her first single, "Sad Song", released in 2019, garnered prominent playlist features on Spotify, including “Indie Pop” and “Fresh Finds”.[5]

Her debut EP, Love the Madness, is set to be released on September 25.[6] Cate released the EP’s lead single, “Pity Party,” on July 24 and the second single, “All Talk,” on August 28.
