| File:Redirect arrow without text (cropped).svg | The pages in this category are redirects to articles that they once duplicated. To add a redirect to this category, place {{Rcat shell|{{R from duplicated article}}}} on the second new line after #REDIRECT [[Target page name]]. Alias/shortcuts may also be used; for example: {{Rcat shell}} is a shortcut for {{Redirect category shell}} and may be used interchangeably. For more information, follow the template link. Never substitute rcat(s), nor place them on soft redirects. Also see the complete list of redirect templates and the redirect style guide. |
| This is a maintenance category. It is used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project and is not part of the encyclopedia. It contains pages that are not articles, or it groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories. This is a hidden category. It is not shown on its member pages, unless the corresponding user preference 'Show hidden categories' is set. This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. Pages are added to tracking categories through templates. |
Being former articles, these redirects have revision histories of prior edits, but they should not be history merged with their targets. This is because in most cases they were originally created in good faith as separate distinct articles, without the user having knowledge of the pre-existence of another article on exactly the same subject. This situation is different from a cut-and-paste move where a history merge would be required.
