Catherine Lemmon Manning (1881-1957) was an American philatelist and Assistant Curator at the Smithsonian, the first woman to achieve this title outside the sciences[1]. She was a charter member of the American Philatelic Congress, a director of the private National Philatelic Museum in Philadelphia, and served as vice president of the American Philatelic Society (APS) from 1935 to 1937, the first woman to hold leadership positions in that organization.
Manning also sat on the committee that selected Elaine Rawlinson's stamp design for the 1938 Presidential Issue. She was inducted into the American Philatelic Society's Hall of Fame in 1990.[2]
