Ceann Creige

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ceann Creige is a Gaelic Athletic Association Hurling and Camogie club based in Glasgow, Scotland. The club has men's, women's and youth teams, welcoming members of all abilities.[1] Ceann Creige is Scotland's only Hurling and Camogie club.

History

The club name Ceann Criege is Irish for Craigend, the area in the east end of Glasgow where the club was formed in 2019. Founded to introduce hurling and camogie to local children, membership has more than tripled in size since then.[1][2]

The first adult team was spearheaded by a group of "Camogs"[clarification needed] initially meeting on Glasgow Green. Interest and publicity grew and a hurling squad soon followed, with the club now totalling over 150 members.[citation needed]

Training

Club training takes place at various venues throughout Glasgow, including the Clydebank Community Sports Hub, Glasgow Mid Argyll Shinty Ground, Craigend and Coatbridge.[3]

Training details for each squad are updated regularly on the Ceann Creige website.[promotion?]

The club runs a free week-long youth summer camp every year.[4]

Competition

The hurling and camogie squads compete in the Lancashire GAA Club Championship.[5]

Both squads also compete in a number of shields, leagues and challenge games throughout the season.[6][citation needed]
