The Cedar Point peninsula is located northeast of Sandusky, Ohio in Lake Erie.[1] In early documentation,[clarification needed] it was a 7-mile long peninsula that connected at its eastern end directly to the Ohio mainland, near Huron, Ohio;[1] however, in the early 20th century, Lake Erie's waves completely eroded away the eastern end.
As of 2020[update] it is approximately 5.5 miles (8.9 km) in length, and two constructed roadways connect the peninsula to the mainland. At the western end is the Cedar Point amusement park, which was founded in 1888 by the Cedar Point Pleasure Resort Company.[2]

Cedar Point then was a bit of wild land seven miles long sheltering, (by its long arms), Sandusky bay. It was covered with timber, and a sandy beach edged the shore.
