Cedric "CJ" Baxter Jr. (born June 28, 2005)[1] is an American football running back for the Texas Longhorns.

Early life and high school[edit]

Baxter grew up in Orlando, Florida and attended Edgewater High School. In his high school career, he made 492 carries for 3,759 yards and 42 touchdowns, averaging 96.4 yards per game and helped the team to a state championship game appearance his freshman year.[2][3] He was also selected to play in the 2023 Under Armour All-America Game.[4] He was rated a five-star recruit and he committed to play college football at the University of Texas at Austin.[5]

College career[edit]

Baxter started the first two games of the 2023 season, but was limited by rib and foot injuries. During the game against Kansas State, he made 390 rushing yards with a 54-yard touchdown taking home the win and ranking second on the team with rushing yards.[6][7]
