Celestial Aeon Project is a Finnish cinematic fantasy music project that has gained a large following and popularity, especially in the global tabletop role-playing game circles. Their music has become a standard inclusion for background music playlists during gaming sessions. Stylistically, their music resembles that of 90s new age / celtic artists like Mike Oldfield and Enya, with elements also from modern video game / film composers such as Austin Wintory, Taro Iwashiro, and Hans Zimmer.
Background
Celestial Aeon Project originally began publishing music back in 2004, in the early days of the internet, through sites such as Finnish mikseri.net[1] where their song "Hope for Rebirth" managed to get to their "list heaven" [2] and a bit later through French Creative Commons music site Jamendo[3]. As time passed, they eventually started to publish music also on modern-day streaming services and quickly became one of the most popular indie fantasy music artists on Spotify, reaching 400,000 monthly listeners and millions of streams.
Celestial Aeon Project is part of the growing Finnish indie label Ouranio Recordings[4]
Celestial Aeon Project became one of the promoted rising stars of Soundrop aggregate[5]
Video Game Music
Celestial Aeon Project produced custom music for the world’s first top-tier World of Warcraft raiding guild Paragon for their Ragnaros kill[6], they also did an interview [7]
Celestial Aeon Project produced the soundtrack for the indie roguelike [8] addon Embers of Rage, which gave it visibility and popularity among gamers.
They also published very popular music pack addons both to Skyrim[9] and Oblivion [10]
They have also submitted a music pack for Dota 2[11]
