Celine Tam

Celine Tam (Chinese: 譚芷昀), born (2007-11-22) November 22, 2007 (age 16), is a Chinese child singer. In June 2017, she participated in America's Got Talent, auditioning with a cover of the song "My Heart Will Go On", originally sung by Celine Dion. The video was published on Facebook and subsequently got over 20 million views in two days.

In August 2017, she sang the song "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" in the America's Got Talent Judge Cuts, and became the first Asian to win the "Golden Buzzer". Her video got over 16 million hits on Facebook and YouTube, as well as getting 2 billion hits on the Chinese internet.[1] She then sang "How Far I'll Go" from the Disney film Moana in the semifinals, but did not receive enough votes to go to the final.[2]

Singing Experience[edit]

As a result of attending the "Second Season of China's New Voice Generation", Celine Tam conquered the audience with a song "魯冰花" and captured the hearts of the three teachers (Shila Amzah, Shang Wenjie and Jiro Wang), and gradually entered the public eye. In the program, Celine Tam entered the class of Shila Amzah and sang the classic songs such as "Nanniwan", "愛是永恆" and "我的祖國". Then she sang "You Raise Me Up", receiving good reviews and getting more than 9.27 million hits on YouTube. Celine has also participated in many competitions and was invited to sing three songs at the National Day reception.

Before attending the second season of China's New Voice Generation, Celine Tam had a small reputation in Hong Kong. She has won many prizes in the "Hong Kong Children's Singing Competition" and participated in many mini concerts. In 2014, she attended a concert in Shanghai, and she invited to sing "Frozen" theme song "Let It Go" as a guest. On June 1, 2014, Children's Day, Celine Tam attended the Shenzhen TV Station. On December 31, 2014, attended the 2015 China City Spring Festival Evening. In 2015's Children's Day ,she attended the "Happy Festival" of CCTV's Children's Day party and sang the song "傳奇".

In August 2017, she sang the song "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" on America's Got Talent and became the first Asian to win the Golden Buzzer. In October 2017, Celine Tam and her sister Dion took the same group of children's wear band "MONNALISA". Her parents also had on-site supervision and acted as photographers to take pictures of the little sisters, but refused to take the family photo. Celine Tam played the finale role and cut the ribbon with the brand CEO. Upon receiving the interview, She expressed her expectation that she was invited to Las Vegas as a concert guest by the invitation of Celine Dion.

Personal life[edit]

Celine learned to sing at age three from her father, Tam Shunsheng, a singing teacher. Concerning his daughter, he said, "I found her voice very special when she was three years old. She would vibrate. I think this is her musical talent. I am a music teacher and she likes to sing herself, so I have the idea of teaching her to sing." Her father also took his daughter to practice in the subway station, saying "This is the most important part I teach her. In subway, people were everywhere, and you want every people to be touched by your song, you have to prepare a lot of things, the process of preparation is  learning, so every time she can learn a lot."
